Captain’s Boil Review: Flavorful Seafood Experience

Captain's Boil

Boil bars have already taken over Toronto and the trend will expand to elsewhere in North America in 2017! Check out review of the latest Captain’s Boil in Scarborough!

The Seafood Boil Craze

Seafood boil restaurant have overtaken Toronto in the past year with numerous locations opening all across the city. For the readers who are not familiar, these are restaurants serving boiled seafood such as lobsters, shrimps, and mussels in big clear plastic bags. The flavor are fusion of Asian and Louisana spice such as cajun, lemon grass, ginger, and garlic.

You eat everything with your hands and wear a nautical-themed bib. This is definitely a fun but messy dining experience that everyone should try at least once!

Menu

Captain’s Boil have redesigned their menu in 2017, with new selection such as the Sizzling plate combo for lunch, new sides include calamari and oyster. The legendary Captain’s Boil flavour is still here!

Dishes

Boiled lobster with Garlic sauce – this is probably our favorite dish. The lobsters are huge and fresh, and the garlic sauce also very tasty but not too strong. You can still taste the freshness of lobster meat!

Clawfish with Captain’s Boil flavor – This is our first time having clawfish and it was really interesting. Clawfish are like tiny lobsters and are so cute! There is not too much meat in the clawfish, so it is good to go with the more flavorful Captain’s Boil sauce

Calamari – This new 2017 side goes perfectly well with all the boiled seafood! These batter-coated, deep fried squid are very yummy and would recommend for everyone! Pro tip: dip these calamari into the Captain’s Boil sauce from the seafood bags!

Sizzling Hot Plate – For those going there for lunch, Captain’s Boil also offer a lighter sizzling hot plate menu with selection of Chicken or Fish Teriyaki to go with Seafood assortment of shrimp, crawfish, mussel, and clams!

Dessert

Another new feature for 2017 is addition to ice cream for dessert! There is always room for dessert even after a seafood feast! Flavors include strawberry, mango, chocolate, and sorbet.
