Legoland Japan was opened on April 1, 2017, and is the second Legoland in Asia after Legoland Malaysia. It is the first major amusement park in the Nagoya area. There are expansion planned in 2018 with Legoland Hotel and Sea Life Aquarium currently under constructions.
How to get to Legoland Japan
Legoland Japan is located in Nagoya, which will certainly add some fun to its infamous title of being the “most boring city in Japan”.
Nagoya is located in between of two other major tourist cities, Tokyo and Osaka. It is certainly possible to visit as a day trip from either of those cities. By Shinkansen, you can get to Nagoya station from Osaka in around 2 hours, and Tokyo in around 2.5 hours.
After arriving at Nagoya Shikansen station, take the Aonami Line to Kinjofuto Station. If you are lucky you can even ride in the Legoland themed Aonami Line train!
From Kinjofuto station, follow the signs to Legoland. You will pass through the newly built Maker’s Pier shopping area, which has lots of interesting shops and eatery. 
After around 10 mins walk (or longer if you are stopped by all the shops and arcades in Maker’s Pier), you will finally arrive Legoland Japan!
Tickets for Legoland Japan
Tickets for Legoland Japan can be purchased online here! There is an English website so you can easily purchase and print off the tickets before leaving for Japan. The tickets will be sent to you by email, so at the gate you can just show the etickets on your smartphone, and you are ready to explore!
Pro tips: There are currently promotions on the Legoland Japan website for buying tickets in advance! If you purchase tickets at least 7 days in advance, you can get 10% off! So it will only be 6,200 JPY for adults and 4,700 JPY for children under age 12!

The park is divided into seven main sections:

Miniland
Miniland is definitely the highlight of any Legoland theme parks. It is the Lego recreation of all the landmarks of Japan! It is made of over 10 millions Lego pieces, and all the Japan skylines and scenery are done with amazing details! Let’s see some of the highlights:
Senso-Ji in Asakusa, Tokyo
Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo
Tokyo Skytree
Gundam Figure at Odaiba, Tokyo
Nagoya Castle
Kani Doraku at Dotombori, Osaka

Kiyomizu-Dera, Kyoto
Factory
Near the entrance stands Lego Factory Tour building, where you can see how Lego bricks are made! It is very cool to see the process of how they transform plastic into cute Lego bricks! At the end of the tour you will receive a piece of Legoland Japan labelled special Lego brick souvenir for free that is made in front of your eyes!
Adventure
The Egypt themed Adventure area features the Lost Kingdom Adventure ride where you can blast targets with laser guns inside an ancient temple! There is also Oasis Snack with the cute and delicious Lego brick fries (see the last section of this post)!
Knight’s Kingdom
Kinight’s Kingdom is based on Lego’s medieval themed sets, featuring the exciting flying roller coaster The Dragon, and the kid-friendly version Dragon’s Apprentice. There are also fast spinning carousel Merlin’s Challenge, and spinning machine Merlin’s Flying Machines!
Pirate Shores
This area is modeled after the classic Lego Pirate sets! There is the Anchors Away pirate ship ride that is on a U-shaped track! Get wet and battle your friends in the Splash Battle ride. The funnest part is as spectators you can aim the water cannon at the riders and make them all wet!
LEGO City
Lego City is probably my favorite Lego set of all time. It is amazing to see an Octan gas station featured in real life! For those who are not familiar, Octan is a fictional gas section which has been included in numerous Lego sets since 1992, and is Lord Business’s company in The Lego Movie!
The best ride in this section is definitely the Driving School, where drivers aged 6-13 can drive around in electric cars in a realistic Lego driving course with real traffic lights and roundabouts. After completing they can obtain a Legoland Driving License!
Bricktopia
Bricktopia is a brand new section that is the first of its kind! Here you can customize and build your own Lego figure in the Minifigure market and Pick a Brick, go up high to view all over Legoland and Nagoya in the Observation Tower, and watch live Lego Ninjago Live 4D shows!
What to eat in Legoland Japan
With over 13 dining options inside Legoland Japan, for sure you will be able to find something you like so you will have enough energy to explore the whole park!
Our favorite and recommendation is definitely the Lego shaped fries that are found in Oasis Snacks inside the Adventure area. The fries are so cutely shaped as Lego bricks, yet taste very crispy and fresh!
Overall being a huge Lego fans we really enjoyed our visit to Legoland Japan. We were impressed by the details and heart in the Miniland area and just admiring all the replica architectures of Japan is well worth the admission. For those with little ones I am sure they will enjoy the immersiveness of all the Lego theme rides!
