Too Hot Hotpot is trying to bring in the “cold hotpot” concept to Toronto. Inspired by the Szechuan street food, Too Hot Hotpot offer spicy skewers that are served in a room temperature broth. This taste surprisingly well as it is cooked in their signature and rich spicy broth. Not serving it at boiling hot temperature makes it enjoyable to consume skewers even during the hot summer months!

Too Hot Hotpot is located in the plaza right behind First Markham Place (FMP) in Markham. The restaurant is spacious and brightly lit with large windows. Unlike other hotpot restaurants, Too Hot Hotpot has good ventilation so it does not feel like a steam room or too stuffy inside.
The boards and wall are cutely decoration with hand drawn artwork, featuring their cute character and food offerings.
Lunch and dinner are all-you-can-eat with variety of meat, veggie, dumplings, mushroom, and seafood. Just pick whatever you want and the friendly server will bring them out for you.
The hotpot broth are all richly flavored and tasted authentic. We tried the Szechuan spicy pot and also the tomato broth. These two are popular as they complement each other well, to balance out between spicy and non-spicy.
We really liked that a lot of the items are served on skewers. This makes it much easier to cook in the hotpot. No need to worry about putting something into the pot and then forget or cannot find it! The skewers also make it much easier to share with friends.
There is a counter for creating your own dipping sauce, with hotpot sauce stables such as soy sauce, spicy sauce, seafood sauce, peanut sauce, and green onion. We especially liked the spicy fragmented soy bean paste.
For those that are not hungry enough for all-you-can-eat or are on a diet, Too Hot Hotpot offers skewers starting at 50 cents. It is the perfect alternative as you can still enjoy the experience of having hotpot but don’t have to stuff yourself too much food.
Crispy Popcorn chickens are done perfectly here. Crispy on the outside but yet tender on the inside. It is a perfect side to complement the hotpot fest.
There are lots of meat skewers too that are made with the charcoal barbecue. All the skewered are flavored perfectly with a spicy kick. It is much better than other skewers we tasted in other restaurants in Toronto or at night markets.
For dessert, definitely try the roasted marshmallow. It is done to perfection with the crispy and golden brown outside and melted interior with wonderful sweetness.
Overall, we enjoyed Too Hot Hotpot very much. We were impressed by their skewer styles, and the broth are one of the best and most authentic we tasted in Toronto. Would definitely come back in both summer and winters months!
